چکیده
Epidemiological and ecological studies on long bone non-unions (NU) are scarce, based different populations methodologies. The aim of this study was to produce a descriptive analysis the femur, tibia, humerus non-union epidemiology in Spain. Methods Data were obtained from Minimum Basic (Conjunto Mínimo Básico de Datos, CMBD) Hospital Discharge Database Spanish Ministry Health, according ICD9-CM coding for diagnoses procedures, National Institute Statistics population, generating secondary databases with reported cases that included code 733.82 disaggregated manner, by age (categorized 5 intervals), gender, region, calendar year (1997-2015). Percentage related fractures previous year, annual prevalence (expressed per 100,000 person-years) period person-period) calculated age, regions. Odds ratio (OR) estimated confidence 95% using logistic regression model anatomical site. Results A mean 235,446 all locations annually Spain 1997 2015. Regarding bones (femur, tibia humerus), total 37,053 found, representing yearly 1,950 cases. proportion evolved into 4% (1.4% 1.5% 1% humerus). rate NU 4.5 (3.7-4.9) persons-year. overall 86 persons. By type bone, (per persons-period) femur 31, 33, 22.Conclusions This description confirms has been stable 2000 2015, higher compared humerus. occurred more frequently aged females than males humerus, while frequent younger age.

Validation of the Non-Union Scoring System in 300 long bone non-unions.
INTRODUCTION Non-union of long bones is a significant consequence of fracture treatment. The ideal classification for non-union of long bones would give sufficient significant information to the orthopaedic surgeon to enable good management of the treatment required and to facilitate the creation of comparable study groups for research purposes. The Non-Union Scoring System (NUSS) is a new scor...
متن کاملLong Bone Non-Unions and Malunions: Risk Factors and Treatment Outcomes in Calabar, Southern Nigeria
Background: Diaphyseal non-unions and malunions constitute significant morbidities in fracture care. Fracture treatment modalities seek to restore anatomic orientation and functional rehabilitation as soon as possible after a fracture incident. Malunions and non unions present a treatment challenge with the need for prolonged hospitalization, multiple surgical interventions and economic burden....
متن کاملSoft Tissue Swelling Associated with the Use of Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 in Long Bone Non-unions
This report describes two cases of long bone non-union associated with the use of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) and is the first of its kind. The first case describes a 25-year-old male who sustained a left diaphyseal femoral shaft fracture initially treated with operative fixation using an intramedullary nail, which subsequently loosened distally and was treated with...
متن کاملManagement of Forearm Bone Gap Non-Unions by Ilizarov Technique
Different factors like fracture location and complexity, patient characteristics and surgical intervention are involved in the development of forearm bone non union [1,2]. Radius and ulna non-unions are usually associated with complex injury, inadequate initial reduction, unstable fixation. Anatomical and functional relationships between radius and ulna are so peculiar that it represents a soph...
متن کاملExamples of non-quasicommutative semigroups decomposed into unions of groups
Decomposability of an algebraic structure into the union of its sub-structures goes back to G. Scorza's Theorem of 1926 for groups. An analogue of this theorem for rings has been recently studied by A. Lucchini in 2012. On the study of this problem for non-group semigroups, the first attempt is due to Clifford's work of 1961 for the regular semigroups. Since then, N.P. Mukherjee in 1972 studied...
